FROM THE LONDON TIMES:

Calling all consulting detectives, and their trusted associates, to determine who did it, how they did it, and why they did it.  Bring your deer stalkers and break out your magnifying glasses as we put the best minds to work whilst distracting them with music dance, food, good company, and of course, refreshing beverages as we collectively attempt to the solve The Mysterious Adventure of the Murdered Morris Dancer. - Inspector G. Lestrade, Scotland Yard

  • 2014-01-31 - Hemlock Stones declares the mystery solved, "Ale'ementary, of course!"  The team immediate seizes on this as the name for the Ale.  Detractors complain that the choice was Sheer Luck because they were without a clue.

  • 2014-01-15 - Rising Phoenix begins an internecine war over what to name the Ale.

  • 2013-09-25 - Rising Phoenix wakes up from a bender to discover they've volunteered to host the 2014 ale.  The Great Defective Hemlock Stones is hired to solve the mystery of how this happened.
In General (who am us anyway):

The California Morris Ale has been a spring (April-ish) or summer (August-ish) time tradition for over 25 years.  It's a gathering of morris teams from throughout the state, the west coast, across the U.S., and internationally as well (we love to host our U.K. comrades).  We gather to dance, perform, and generally carouse, while sharing in that peculiar recreation known as morris dancing (but wait - there's more!)

Since the host, location, and website for the ale moves from year to year (usually back and forth between northern and southern teams), this website exists so that folks can always find the latest information by starting from the same place.  Check our history page to track the travels of this moveable feast.
